Actor and radio personality Jimmy Quist has revealed that he never received payment for his role in the acclaimed Ghanaian TV series “Efiewura.”
During an interview on Channel One TV, Mr. Quist detailed his 13-year stint with the show, spanning from 2002 to 2014, which began after Okraku Mantey’s production of Daasebre Dwamena’s work.
Mr. Quist explained that while professional actors were compensated, he and other participants who owned personal vehicles were only given fuel allowances.
“They only provided allowances. I did it because it was my friend’s project. Koofori was at Radio Gold, and I was at Joy, so we used our platforms to make ‘Efiewura’ popular,” he shared.
According to Mr Quist, his involvement was purely voluntary, driven by his desire to support his friend’s production. Despite not being remunerated, his dedication stemmed from his friendship and the opportunity to contribute to the show’s success.
The popular TV series “Efiewura,” which airs in Akan, delves into the dynamics between landlords and tenants and has become one of Ghana’s longest-running television shows since its inception in 2001.
