“Accept NPP Offers But Vote Against Them”-John Dumelo

Written by Sarah Boye

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Ayawaso West Wuogon, John Dumelo, urged voters to accept any items offered by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) but to vote against them in the upcoming December 7 elections.

Speaking at the NDC’s final rally at Zurak Park in Madina on December 5, 2024, Dumelo rallied the crowd, encouraging them to support change and back the NDC.

“Take the money, take the rice, take the salt, take everything they offer, but vote against them. On December 7, we will reset Ghana in the right direction,” he said.

His remarks followed controversy over the December 2 special voting exercise, during which Lydia Seyram Alhassan, the incumbent MP and NPP candidate for Ayawaso West Wuogon, distributed rice packs to voters at the Legon Police Station polling center.
This act sparked widespread criticism, prompting Dumelo to file a formal complaint with the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
