Keche Andrew, one of the popular music duos Keche, has called for the understanding and acceptance of artists performace at political rallies.
In an interview, Andrew criticised the backlash that artists face for participating in political events, pointing out that while critics may have stable incomes, artists usually secure performances only intermittently.
Further, Andrew noted that even renowned musicians like Daddy Lumba have performed for different political parties while maintaining connections across the political spectrum.
He advised fellow artists to take advantage of opportunities to perform at political events if the financial rewards are substantial and can support their future.
“If the payment is significant and can help you start a business or build a future, go for it,” he said.
Moreover , he encouraged artists to make their own choices about campaign songs as long as the earnings benefit their families and enhance their lives.
