Tyla, a singer from South Africa, is the first-ever winner of the Grammy Award’s Best African Music Performance category.

Tyla’s song “Water” won over songs by Nigerian artists Davido, Asake, Burna Boy, and Ayra Starr, as well as the song “Unavailable” by Tyla.

As of the moment, the 22-year-old is the youngest African winner of a Grammy.

Shakti’s “This Moment” defeated Davido’s “Timeless” and Burna Boy’s “I Told Them” for the title of Best Global Music Album.

Similarly, “Pashto” by Bela Fleck, Edgar Meyer, and Zakir Hussain won Best Global Music Performance, defeating Davido’s “Feel” and Burna Boy’s “Alone.”

In this regard, no Nigerian took home a Grammy for the 66th year.
