Written by Sarah Boye

The Ministry of Works and Housing has announced that five private entities have submitted bids to partner with the government to complete the 1,506 Saglemi Affordable Housing Units.

According to a press statement from the ministry, the bids were submitted to the Technical Working Group on the Saglemi Housing Project on July 8, 2024, in accordance with the Request for Proposals (RFP) issued on April 17, 2024.

Minister for Works and Housing, Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, stated that an independent evaluation entity will be appointed to assess the bids and advise the ministry on the most favourable submission.

In line with the ministry’s transparency policy, all bids received and the evaluation report will be published in accordance with the proactive disclosure sections of the Right to Information Act.

Oppong Nkrumah emphasised that the Saglemi Housing Project, once completed, will provide affordable housing units for Ghanaians, significantly contributing to reducing the country’s housing deficit.

The selection and contracting process for a developer is expected to be finalised by August 30, 2024. This development follows an initial expression of interest from ten organisations in the project.
