Ghanaian entertainment pundit Kwaku Osei Korankye Asiedu, known as KOKA, has apologised for his previous comments about music artist King Paluta.
In a video circulating on social media, KOKA admitted that he had poorly chosen his words and clarified that he intended to promote longevity and sustained success for Ghanaian artists like King Paluta.
Drawing a comparison to the Asakaa Boys, KOKA highlighted the rapid shifts in the music industry that can push once-popular artists to the sidelines. He expressed his desire for artists like King Paluta to remain relevant and successful for many years.
“Look at what happened to the Asakaa Boys; now we’ve pushed them aside. We want more stars at the top; there’s plenty of space for them,” he stated. During a discussion on Asempa FM, KOKA described King Paluta’s singing voice as “useless” and off-key, suggesting that he needs a voice coach to improve his craft.
Despite his harsh critique, KOKA recognised King Paluta’s potential and talent, advising him to learn from established artists like Castro, Kofi Kinaata, Amerado, and Sarkodie.
Following backlash on social media, KOKA defended his comments in a subsequent interview on Hitz FM, clarifying that he intended his critique to encourage improvement, not to disparage King Paluta.
