WAEC has appointed Dr Rosemond Wilson as the new Head of the Ghana National Office, following the retirement of Mrs. Wendy E. Addy-Lamptey.
WAEC announced this in a statement released in Accra on Wednesday, July 17.Dr. Wilson began her journey with WAEC in September 1997, bringing 27 years of extensive experience in assessment to her new role.
Before this appointment, she served as the acting head of the Test Development Division at WAEC.
She started her early career as an elective mathematics tutor at Baidoo Bonsoe Senior High Technical School and Tarkwa Senior High School, both in the Western Region of Ghana.
The statement from WAEC highlighted Dr. Wilson’s professional growth within the organisation, starting as an officer in the Records and Aptitude Test Department and advancing to a Subject Officer for Mathematics.
Over the past decade, she has held significant leadership positions, including head of the Mathematics Section, the Post Examinations Department, and the Test Development Division.Throughout her tenure at WAEC, Dr Wilson has substantially contributed to enhancing operational processes and ensuring the quality and fairness of examinations.
She has focused on strategic organisational development, productivity, and the effective implementation of policies.DrWilson’s academic qualifications are equally impressive.
She holds GCE Ordinary Level and Advanced Level Certificates from Holy Child Senior High School, Cape Coast, a BSc. (Hons.) in Mathematics from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, and two Master’s degrees—an MSc in Statistics and an MA in Measurement and Evaluation—from the University of Cape Coast.
She also earned a PhD in mathematics education from the University of Education, Winneba. Dr. Wilson has actively participated in and presented papers at numerous local and international conferences on mathematics education and assessment.
